FRANKLIN GROVE,, Rural Renovators, of Franklin Grove, has been honored with the National Frame Builders Association Award for 2014 Building of Year.
This award is presented annually and was received at the 2015 NFBA Exposition held in Louisville, Ky. Feb. 18 through Feb. 20. Rural Renovators competed among nationally recognized industry professionals throughout the United States.

School board votes to move students out of middle school

ASHTON -- The AFC School Board took action on only what they refer to as Step 1 of the district reorganization plan on Monday night. The board voted to assign K-sixth grade students to the current elementary school and seventh through 12th grade to the current high school.

AFC summer baseball registration deadline is March 13

FRANKLIN GROVE -- Registration for the AFC Summer Baseball and Softball Program is underway and will continue until March 13. Although the baseball and softball program is not associated with the AFC School District, the schools are cooperating in the registration for the program by sending registration sheets home with the students.

PTC drawdown fundraiser to be held Feb. 28 at Dixon Elks Lodge

ASHTON -- The AFC PTC will be hosting its annual drawdown fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Dixon Elks Lodge, 1279 Franklin Grove Road in Dixon.
The doors will open at 5 p.m. Dinner hour will be from 5:30, 7 p.m. The drawdown begins at 7 p.m. and Burn n' Bush will entertain from 7, midnight.
