ASHTON — The Village of Ashton residents have started seeing savings on their electric bills. According to the Village and their consultant, Rock River Energy Services, of the 480 residential and small commercial electric accounts in the Village, 52 of them had already switched to another retail electric supplier, and were not eligible to be automatically enrolled in the community program with First Energy Solutions.
There are 387 accounts that were automatically enrolled in the program, 35 accounts opted out, and six opt out notices were returned by the post office as undeliverable. Ninety-one percent of eligible accounts who received the notices were enrolled in the program.
The annualized savings, per single-family household, based on actual 2011 load usage data for Ashton is estimated at $254 (5.18 Ashton rate vs. current non summer effective ComEd rate of 8.32), for a 37 percent savings. This will result in an estimated $108,776 community wide savings.
Power flow with First Energy Solutions began early July and savings were reflected on the ComEd bills that are received in August. Residential and small commercial electric accounts in the Village of Ashton who did not receive an original notice can call First Energy Solutions at 1-866-636-3749, Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., to enroll their account. Any questions about the program can also be directed to Rock River Energy Services at (815) 732-4603.
