ASHTON —The board also approved the purchase of athletic lockers for the girls and boys locker rooms at the high school. They will encourage the coaches to pursue other décor changes to give the rooms a total upgrade.
At the June school board meeting the board approved the voting in favor of Pam Scanlan for the NIA Executive Board position.
They also approved the dairy product bid from Muller-Pinehurst, the waste disposal bid from Affordable Waste Systems and the diesel fuel bid from North Oil for FY14. The Board also approved the three-year snow removal bid from Kevin Cochrane for FY14-FY16.
At the July 15 board meeting, they conducted their semi-annual review of Executive Session Minutes from the January 2013 through June 2013 Board Meetings.
The board also conducted their review of the Verbatim Recordings of the Executive Sessions from the July 2011 through December 2011 Board Meetings.
In other action
The board approved the hiring of Dan Sheets for a full-time position as high school special education and social science teacher.
They also approved Christine Dvorak as sixth grade volleyball coach and Steve Toole as part-time high school social science teacher.
After a lengthy discussion, the board approved the purchase of chain link fencing to be installed at the middle school and high school. At the middle school, the basketball court area on the south lawn will be enclosed. At the high school, the tennis court area will have fence installed on the east and west ends, the north and south are already fenced. The purpose of the fence is for safety. The fence is not intended to deter people from using the recreational area. They gates will not be locked.
