FRANKLIN GROVE —Lisa Lanz, representing as yet unnamed parties, will present a request for a variance to the Franklin Grove Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Grove Village Hall. The request for variance will be for the purpose of operating a Bed and Breakfast establishment at 409 N. State Street.

The property is currently zone R-1, Residential Single Family, and is located at the corner of Daysville Road and Illinois Route 38 (the Lincoln Highway). The variance, if granted would allow the operation of a facility to provide overnight travel accommodations. Lanz and her associate, John Ayres attended the September meeting of the Franklin Grove Village Board and told the board that the site had been selected as very suitable for their plans contingent upon its being approved for such use.

The board received the request with favorable comments from all who spoke, recognizing the benefit to the community to have a place that allowed for overnight accommodations.

Mayor David Atkinson and the Board  directed Robert Logan, the Zoning Officer, to convene the zoning board to consider the project and make a recommendation. A public hearing on the issue will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14 prior to board action on the Zoning Board’s recommendation.
