St. John’s preschool still has openings for fall sessions
Posted: Wednesday, Sep 10th, 2008

ASHTON — Preschool attendance helps students develop the social skills, knowledge and confidence needed in kindergarten. It’s not too late to register your child. St. John’s Preschool has spots available in both the preschool and pre-kindergarten classes for the 2008-09 school year.

St. John’s preschool class introduces children to their first school experience. Through supervised and structured play, children learn how to relate to others, how to share and how to accept responsibility.

Various concepts are introduced to stimulate active learning in the areas of colors, shapes, spatial relations, classification, numbers, alphabet and Jesus time.

The pre-kindergarten class strengthens the children’s ability to solve problems, make personal choices, listen and follow directions. In this class, the children will grow in social maturity and self-esteem. The curriculum provides key experiences with colors, shapes, spatial relations, classification, numbers, alphabet and Jesus time. All activities are designed to ease the transition into kindergarten.

For further information, please contact the school at 815-453-2919.

St. John’s preschool is a Christian centered preschool that strives to meet the needs of each child as reflected by their developmental level individual interests, and general basic care needs.

Our program nurtures the spiritual growth of the child, promotes physical development, helps the child become socially competent in relating to others, and encourages emotional growth and control.

The curriculum teaches problem-solving skills; provides sensory, motor and language experiences; and includes play, creative activities, and “Jesus Time.”
