ASHTON — A perfect season. 13-0. That’s how the AFC1 Little League team finished the season. They even took first place in the regular season and tournament.

Led by a strong performance by Jacob Hilliker on the mound; seven innings pitched, four runs allowed, the team beat Forreston in the finals by a score of 16-4. It was a game in which all AFC players got on base, including a game clinching triple by Ryan Rod and four hits by both Hilliker and David Zinke. Great defensive plays were also made by Zinke at shortstop and Adam Mairs at catcher.

“We definitely waited until the last game of the year to play our best all around game. We were strong both offensively and defensively” said coach Dave Meurer.

“I can’t tell these boys enough how proud I am of each one of them. They started the season a little rough around the edges but were committed to practicing hard and getting better, and it showed today” said coach Dave Mairs.
