Essex leads Lady Raiders past Kirkland with 16 points

ASHTON — Alisyn Essex scored 10 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Raiders to a late game comeback to defeat Kirkland – Hiawatha Tuesday night, 36-34.

The Lady Raiders trailed by as many as 12 points in the final period.

Lea Koning, Megan Knight and Lauren Meurer spearheaded a defensive charge to close the gap. Sarah Matson also added five of her 16 points in the comeback.

The Raiders are 4-1 for the season.
