Two AFC Raiders advance to wrestling sectionals

ASHTON — On Saturday, Feb. 2, the AFC Raider wrestling team participated in the IHSA Regional Tournament at Rock Falls High School.

Teams at the Rock Falls Regional were Amboy, AFC, Mendota, Putnam County, Peru St. Bede, Polo, Princeton, Rock Falls, and Sterling Newman. The team Regional champion was Rock Falls.

Representing AFC were Anthony Hahn, Riley Stephens, John Hilliker, Josh Kaecker, Jake Kaecker, and Andrew LeFevre. The top three place winners in each weight class advance to the Sectional Tournament in Oregon on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8 and 9.

Advancing to Sectionals for AFC were Anthony Hahn, second at 113 pounds, and Jacob Kaecker, first at 152 pounds. Josh Kaecker is the alternate at 145 pounds, meaning that if one of the top three place winners can’t compete for any reason, Josh is in.
