ASHTON — The AFC boys basketball team travelled to Freeport Aquin to take on the state ranked and NUIC conference leading Bulldogs. The Raiders(7-13) put constant pressure on Aquin and were led by the hot handed shooting of Ermir Ramadani, who made 7 three point field goals, but a 16-2 fourth quarter offensive run by the Bulldogs put the game out of reach with a final score of 84-71.
Ramadani made seven of his 11 three point attempts and finished with a team leading 27 points. Troy Mairs added 18 points and Bret Gittleson pitched in with 12 points.
Defensively, Mairs led in rebounding with 12 rebounds and Paul Rod added eight rebounds. Nick McClanahan grabbed three steals and Mairs also added three blocked shots.
