ASHTON — The AFC Lady Raiders varsity softball team fell 13-2 to Dakota on Tuesday, April 16.
Lauren Meurer was solid at the plate going 1-2 with a double in the fourth inning.
Olivia Zimmerman recorded the win for Dakota. She allowed two runs over five innings.
The game was never in doubt after the first inning as Dakota scored four runs on a passed ball and two singles.
Dakota tacked on another three runs in the second inning.
Lauren Meurer started a rally with two outs by doubling to left center. Sarah Matson walked. A basehit to right field by Alyx Miller advanced Kenzie Wolf to third base. Wolf then scored when the catcher tried to pick her off. Matson also scored on the same play from second base. That proved to be the only runs the Lady Raiders could manage.
The Lady Raiders defense had a great night committing no errors. Raiders turned two double plays tonight. Cassidy Koning tagged the runner on third and threw to first baseman Miller. Matson caught a line drive in left field and doubles the runner off of third base.
AFC hopes to combine offense and defense in their next game.
