ASHTON — The Stockton Blackhawks showed why they are the number one ranked football team in Illinois on Friday night , as they rolled to an easy 48-0 victory over the AFC Raiders. Stockton opened up the game with a quick score just six minutes into the first quarter and never looked back while rolling up 394 yards of offense.

The Raiders knew entering the game that they had a big challenge ahead of them due to recent injuries to key players. quarterback Bret Gittleson, as well as running backs Jake Chapman and Bryan Dewey are dealing with leg injuries that are keeping them off the field.

As a result, the Raiders offense struggled to gain only 107 yards on the night.

“We have several key players dealing with injuries and I’m proud of the guys that have stepped up to fill their spots,” said Coach Brad Winterland. “Many of guys these are underclassmen. We just need to get our guys healthy, and regroup for our game this week against El-Paso.”

David Zinke led the rushing game with 23 yards, Jake Hageman had 22 yards and Jamey Talley ran for 15 yards. Kevin Kurz and Chapman were defensive standouts with 12 tackles each, and Zinke and Nathaniel Voss each had eight tackles.

The loss drops the Raiders record to 0-4 on the year and face a new opponent next week in an out of conference game against El-Paso at home this week on Friday night at 7 p.m. There will not be a fresh-soph game on Friday, it will be played on Saturday against Pecatonica at noon.
