MISSION VIEJO, Calif. — Kim Allen Fischbach was the true embodiment of a Godly man. Kim dedicated his life to furthering the message of Jesus Christ, a mission that is carried on through a foundation in his honor. He lived his life with the goal of bringing one more person to Jesus, focusing each day on filling himself with God’s spirit in order to speak to someone so that they would hear God’s words in their heart. Kim was well-known and loved by those who had the good fortune to meet him, and gave his life to serving others.

While his love for others, specifically toward orphans, is something that was a constant throughout his life, his dedication to the widows and orphans in Rwanda came out of a mission trip he served on in 2007. Following that trip, he organized fundraisers and donated considerable time and money to educate and provide resources for the widows and orphans in Rwanda. As such, this foundation is serving as an ongoing extension of his mission.

Born on July 8, 1957 in Sterling, to Ken and Nancy Fischbach, Kim graduated from Ashton High School in 1975 and joined the United States Marines directly thereafter. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, Kim earned distinction for Good Conduct and as a Rifle Sharpshooter, a testament to his continuously positive attitude and work ethic, before earning an Honorable Discharge in 1981.

Kim went on to attend California State University, Fullerton and graduated in 1985 with a bachelor of arts in chemistry, and later earned his MBA in 2003. Kim served as a chemical engineer in a number of fields, including Rockwell Industries, Jazz Semiconductors, and Oakley’s military eyewear division.

Kim was a member of the Saddleback Church family, a volunteer with the children’s All Stars program, a participant and leader in the Celebrate Recovery ministry, and a well-known figure across the Saddleback Church campus and greater Orange County area.

An avid cyclist, Kim was regularly noted for being one of the best conditioned and most enduring athletes, and he completed dozens of Century distance cycling events. He even completed a 50 mile ride just three days before his tragic passing.

Kim passed away on Jan. 20, 2010, just before 10 a.m. Pacific time at Mission Viejo Medical Center from an aortic dissection.

Kim is survived by his loving wife, Robyn Fischbach, and wonderful daughter, Allison, along with his parents, Ken and Nancy, brothers, Matt and Kirk, sisters, Rene and Lisa, his step-son, Josh and daughter-in-law, Michelle, and will always be Keira and Kaiden’s papa.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 in the Plaza Room at Saddleback Church. Anyone who was touched by Kim personally, or through his life and spirit,was certainly invited to attend! A reception prepared by Kim and Robyn’s Small Group was held directly afterward.
