ASHTON — Jean A. Swanson, 87, of Ashton, passed away Jan. 28, 2010 at Swedish American Hospital.

Jean was born Sept. 26, 1922 in Manlius, the daughter of E.D. and Gladys VanOrmer. She married Jack Swanson on March 31, 1946 in Manlius. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ashton. In 1943 she and her sister were two of the first women to graduate with degrees in accounting from The University of Illinois.

She is survived by her husband, Jack, of Ashton; son David, his wife Grace and their children Eric and Danielle, all of Santa Ana, Calif.; son, Jay, his wife Lillian and their children, John, Sarah and David, all of Medfield, Ma.; and a niece, Hillary Carlson, of Bloomingdale.

She was predeceased by one sister, Lynn Carlson.
