ASHTON — The AFC School Board of Education invites anyone with questions regarding the proposed 1 percent Lee County sales tax increase to attend a public information meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15 prior to the regularly schedule board meeting.
“The AFC School Board has not designated where the Sales Tax revenue, if approved, would be applied,” said Superintendent John Zick. “With buildings that were constructed in the 1950s, we have structural needs with each of our buildings that need attention. The board plans to study the condition and needs of each building, look at the costs to upgrade those needs and prioritize where the money should be spent.”
The approval of the County Facility Sales Tax will provide the opportunity to improve our school buildings without increasing property taxes.
