AFC Lady Raiders defeated by Milledgeville

ASHTON — The AFC Lady Raiders varsity volleyball team was defeated 20-25, 20-25 by Milledgeville on Oct. 4.

For the Lady Raiders, Megan Knight had two aces. 12 service points and six digs. Lexie Fore had four kills. Emily Mammen had three kills. Sarah Matson had three kills and five blocks. Kayla Colwell had six digs and Lea Koning had three assists. Cassidy Koning had three blocks.

AFC battled back and forth in both games only to come up short against Milledgeville. Megan Knight had a good all around game. AFC struggled on defense tonight and had too many unforced errors. Milledgeville was able to overcome their service errors to take both games.

In the fresh/soph game, AFC defeated Milledgeville 25-17, 25-23.

For AFC Katie Sondgeroth had five aces, 12 service points and two assists. Kristen Bartlett had two aces and six digs. Courtney Vivian had 13 service points and six digs. Allison Prestegaard had two kills and two blocks. Marissa Sanford had two assists and one block.

Tonight was an exciting game against the Missiles. AFC took a huge lead in game one when Katie Sondgeroth and Courtney Vivian led at the service line. AFC defended our side of the net with two blocks by Allison Prestegaard and another by Marissa Sanford. Vivian and Kristen Bartlett dug up Milledgeville’s hits to where Sondgeroth could assist and so could Marissa Sanford. Vivian and Prestegaard but the ball down with a combined dive kills.

In the freshman game, Milledgeville defeated AFC 19-25, 19-25.

For the Lady Raiders, Lena Petersen had three aces, 11 service points, four kills and three assists. Mackenzie Wolf had one ace, one dig, one assist and one block. Jade Brown had one ace and Graylyn . Kady McDonald had one ace and eight service points. Peyton Clark had three kills.

The AFC ladies fought hard as a team with great performances by all girls but wound up falling short in the end.
