Ashton Business Boosters Association announces Christmas Walk plans

ASHTON — The Village of Ashton will be alive with holiday spirit on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Enjoy a Christmas Housewalk from 2 – 5 p.m. at four local homes. The homes of Al and Beth Kvool, Lana Schade, Jeff and Susan Larson and Dave and Marilyn Balch will be open for “the holiday.” Tickets for the housewalk are $6 each at are available at Ralphie and LuLu’s, Ashton Foods and the Ashton Gazette office. One dollar of each ticket sold will be donated to the Ashton Lions Children’s Christmas fund.

New this year, children are invited to enjoy Christmas movies at the AFC High School music room from 2 – 4 p.m. The event will be co-sponsored by the Golden Aces 4-H Club. Children must be potty trained or accompanied by an adult. Treats will be distributed.

Visitors are also invited to drop by the Mills and Petrie Library for refreshments and a “make it and take it” craft from 2 – 5 p.m. There will be a variety of Christmas books on display for folks to check out.

Cliff’s Donuts will be selling fresh apple cider donuts from 3 - 7 p.m. in downtown Ashton.

The Ashton Lions Club will host a chili dinner at the Lions Center from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner includes chili with all the trimmings, brownie and a drink for $4 each.

St. John’s Preschool will host a cookie walk at the Ashton Lions Center from 4 – 7 p.m. Select from a variety of melt-in-your-mouth homemade cookies for the holidays. Fill the box provided with your choice of cookies for $6 per pound.

Santa will arrive by firetruck at 5 p.m. and will be at the Lions Center until 7 p.m. Bring your children and a camera!

Other activities include a house decorating contest. Leave your outside decorations lit for judging from 5 to 9 p.m.

At 7 p.m. the annual Carol Walk will kick off at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Community Choir will perform and participants will sing traditional Christmas carols in preparation for the season. From St. John’s, the group will travel to the Ashton United Methodist Church for more singing. The evening will conclude at the Ashton Bible Church. Refreshments will be served at the end of the evening.

All are invited and encouraged to attend these events and join in the celebration of the Christmas season.
