Posted: Wednesday, Dec 19th, 2012

ASHTON — The AFC Raiders boy’s varsity basketball team faced off Monday, Dec. 17 on their home court against their conference foe, the Milledgeville Missiles.

The Raiders came up short in the fourth quarter by a final score of 52-47. The loss drops AFC’s overall record on the season to 4-5.

After making a run in the fourth quarter, the Raiders cut the lead to only one point, but a pair of AFC turnovers helped the Missiles stretch the lead back out four points.

The Missiles were able to hold on to their lead and never gave AFC a chance to get back in the game.

Offensive leaders for the game were Bret Gittleson with 19 points, Troy Mairs with 12 points, and Ermir Ramadani with nine.

Defensive standouts were Troy Mairs with 10 rebounds and Nick McClanahan with five steals.

Next week the Raiders begin tournament play in the Sterling Newman Christmas Classic. Times of games will be announced at a later date.
