FRANKLIN GROVE — Petitions were filed with Franklin Grove Village Clerk Lori Smith beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec.17, the first date to file for candidacy in the April 13, 2013 Consolidated Election. Each set of petitions had a requisite numbr of voter signatures and require a Statement of Economic Interest to be filed at the time the petitions were filed with the village clerk.
Three candidates filed petitions seeking the office of village president. Two of those, current Mayor Bob Logan and Village Trustee Tony Schaneberg filed when the filing period opened and were declared to have filed simultaneously. Village Trustee David Atkinson filed just before the filing period closed on Dec. 26.
Logan and Schaneberg participated in a lottery held on Dec. 27 and Logan’s name was drawn to appear first on the ballot, followed by Schaneberg and then Atkinson.
Lori Smith was the lone candidate to file for Village Clerk and so will run unopposed. Three candidates filed for what will be three open, four year village trustee seats on the village board.
Barring write-in candidacies, Scott Spangler, former trustee Mike Crofton and newcomer Roger Warrenfeltz will run unopposed for the three open trustee positions.
