ASHTON —The AFC boys wrapped up their Newman Classic basketball tournament with a come from behind victory over the Prophetstown Prophets by a score of 58-52 to claim 7th place overall.
The Raiders found themselves trailing by 10 points early in the first half and but rallied to tie the score at halftime 27-27.
The third quarter had four lead changes, and the Raiders ended the period leading 37-36.
AFC turned up the defensive pressure and was able to stretch their lead to six points in the fourth quarter and finished up with a 58-52 victory.
Ermir Ramadani led the Raiders in scoring with 15 points, Troy Mairs added 13 points, and Matt Gendusa and Mike Essex each pitched in with seven points.
Mairs also led the Raiders in rebounding with 10, Bret Gittleson had nine boards, and Nick McClanahan grabbed six steals.
The win brings the Raiders record to 5-7 on the year.
Their next game is Jan. 8 at home against Polo.
