ASHTON — The Lady Raiders hosted the defending state champion Freeport Aquin Bulldogs on senior night at AFC High School. A large crowd gathered to honor three seniors of the basketball team. Senior Molly Uphoff was honored for her tenure as the student president of girls basketball operations and statistics.

“Molly’s professionalism and attention to detail as our statistician will be missed. She is an intregral part of the team,” Coach Jahn stated.

The Raiders trailed 38-15 at halftime. Then led by the two seniors, the Raiders outscored the Bulldogs in each of the final two quarters for a 60-41 loss. Senior Megan Knight played the best half of basketball of her career with five points and five rebounds.

“What a way to go out! Megan was everywhere that second half,” stated Coach Jahn.

Senior Sarah Matson also ended her home basketball career with a bang. Matson had five 3-pointers and ended with 20 points.

“Sarah is AFC basketball,” says Jahn. “Her hard work and love of the game will be any inspiration for younger players for years to come”

Both players exited late in the game to a standing ovation from the appreciative home crowd. The Raiders end the regular season at 10-15.
