ASHTON The Ashton Village Board approved a request from the Griffith Park Board to borrow funds for a bridge loan in the amount of $167,000 from the money received by the Ashton Cemetery from the Ina Eckhoff estate to proceed with construction of the splash pad. The loan must be borrowed and repaid in the same fiscal year, while the interest will be 1.5 percent compared to local banks which were going to charge 2.5 or 3.95 percent.
In a roll call vote, Dave Balch, Rich Russell and Tom Balch voted against the proposed loan. Dean Meurer, Mike Emmons and Andrew Kida voted in favor of the loan. Mayor John Martinez broke the tie vote with a yes vote.
