Lady Raiders fall during semi-finals

ASHTON — The Lady Raiders basketball team defeated Milledgeville by a score of 55-44 last Monday night to advance to the regional semi-final game.

Alisyn Essex led all scorers with 21 points including four 3-pointers. Sarah Matson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 steals. Lea Koning added nine points with two huge 3-pointers just before half-time. Kayla Colwell added seven points.

On Wednesday night the Lady Raiders took on the sixth ranked team in the state, the Prophetstown Lady Prophets at Polo High School.

The Raiders trailed by 13 after the first quarter. The final score in the loss was 69-40.

The Lady Raiders played without sophomore standout Alisyn Essex who was out sick.

Sarah Matson ended her fabulous AFC basketball career with 20 points.

Cassidy Koning had seven points and Lea Koning had five points.

The Lady Raiders end the 2012-2013 Season with a record of 11-16.

“Myself, Coach Doughty, and the entire girls basketball team would like to thank all our family, friends and fans for their support throughout the year,” head coach Chris Jahn stated. “It was a great year!”
