AFC Raiders sweep doubleheader against Earlville on Saturday

ASHTON — The AFC Raiders varsity baseball team swept a double header from Earlville-Leland on Saturday.

The Raiders won game one 16 to 2. Paul Rod (1-1) got the win for the Raiders.

Offensively Paul Rod was 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI. Matt Gendusa was 2 for 3 with two RBI. Tyler Shugars was 1 for 1 with three RBI. Andrew LeFevre was 2 for 5 with two runs scored.

In game two the Raiders defeated Earlville-Leland 13 to 0. Graye Freeman (1-0) got the win for the Raiders. Freeman pitched five innings while giving up four hits, striking out eight, and walking none.

Offensively Troy Mairs was 3 for 4 with two RBI. Freeman was 2 for 4 with three RBI and a double. Andrew LeFevre was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Anthony Gendusa was 1 for 2 with a double and two RBI.

“We finally put everything together today, ” said Coach Greg Cissna. “It was a lot of fun to see our players performing and having fun doing it today.”

The wins improved AFC to 2-4 overall on the season.
