ASHTON ó The Swing Choir Tour from Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center (LOMC), Oregon, will be performing on Saturday, July 20, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 803 Paddock Ave., Ashton. The performance will begin at 7 p.m.
The LOMC Swing Choir is made up of young people in grades 9-12 from Illinois. They are under the direction of Naomi Allen, and accompanist Jared Slothower. The choreographer is Brandi Peters.
The Swing Choir is on tour for eight days following a week of rehearsals and activities at LOMC. They will be traveling throughout Northern and Central Illinois. The LOMC Swing Choir has been performing in churches in the Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin areas for over twenty years with new members joining every year. Many youth in this group have been performing together for several years.
The costs of the tour may be offset by local chapters of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
LOMC is a ministry of the Central/Southern Illinois, Metropolitan Chicago and Northern Illinois Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). LOMC is a year- round retreat facility and summer camp. Swing Choir Tour is one of many summer camp programs offered at LOMC.
