ASHTON — Marlene A. Larson 75, of Ashton, passed away July 11, 2013 at KSB Hospital Dixon. She was born on May 17, 1938 to the Alvina and the late Adolf Kuffel in Spring Valley.
She graduated from St. Anthony’s Nursing Program in Rockford.
She married Ron on Sept. 19, 1959 in Walton. She worked for St. Anthony’s Medical Center and Rochelle Community Hospital before joining her husband, Ron, at Ron’s Food Market in Ashton.
She liked to spend her vacation fishing in Wisconsin. She loved going to her grandchildrens sporting events and spending time with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; son, Jeff (Susan) Larson, daughter, Vicki (James) Essex, all of Ashton; two sisters, Janice (Donald) Reinhold of Franklin Grove and Leanne (Dale) Vesta of Sycamore. She also leaves behind precious grandchildren, Patrick Larson, Alyssa Larson, Michael Essex and Alisyn Essex and precious great grandchildren, Mason and Noah.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation was held Sunday, July 14, from 2-6 p.m. at the Beverage – Lyons Family Funeral Home 601 Richardson St., Ashton.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 15, at 11a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Ashton, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church, with Rev. Jonathan Black officiating.
