ASHTON — The Ashton Village Board voted to approve the recommendation from the zoning board of appeals to allow for the height variance for buildings in an industrial zone.
The request was originally submitted at the July meeting and was tabled and sent back to the zoning board to address each of the concerns that citizens of the area and their attorney had expressed.
The board first voted unanimously to accept the findings of the zoning board of appeals. Discussion was then opened up and the attorney for the citizens once again expressed concern that approving the variance would negatively affect the local citizens and that they had concerns about the local fire department being able to handle a fire in a building that high. Some residents also have concerns regarding water run off from the proposed building. For the complete article see the 08-14-2013 issue.
