ASHTON —Through the combined efforts of Martha Holder, Lois Piller, Lisa Foster, Crest Foods and the efforts of many supporters, the Ashton Lions Club was able to purchase a new “kid-friendly” Lions mascot costume to replace their old and sometimes scary costume.

Funds contributed towards the purchase of the new costume were raised at this year’s Ashton Summer Celebration with a bake sale coordinated by Martha Holder and Lois Piller and with the help of Lisa Foster’s craft sales.

Crest Foods kicked in funds to match the proceeds from the bake sale giving the Ashton Lions $800 towards the purchase of their new mascot Lions’ costume.

The new Lions costume will be débuted at this year’s Ashton Halloween Party, sponsored by the Lions Club and the American Legion Post 345 is set to be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. The party begins at 1 p.m. with the parade starting at Ashton Foods. Costume judging with cash prizes and refreshments will follow the parade at the Mills-Petrie.
